Description

It’s pretty darn good, up there with Penny Woolcock‘s Tina series for films that use non-professional actors.

The helpless man on the floor then reveals he knows John and is executed by one of the other men who pumps three bullets into his victim. So Reed ended up recruiting what might be described as ‘local characters’ to improvise a piece of fiction based on what goes on in Merkeyside’s criminal subculture. It’s essentially a drama, but the project had its basis in the director wanting to make a documentary about gangsters in Liverpool… Except perhaps unsurprisingly not even Scouse hoods are so stupid as to go on camera and talk about their daily ‘working’ lives. I must admit, however, I don't know why it's an 18 certificate, there is very little violence and that which is shown is either off-screen or very brief. The short film is most notable for having been completely unscripted aside from a brief outline, each scene was improvised and ad-libbed by the actors themselves.Review "I haven't seen anything that could match it for realism apart from reality itself" --The Independent"Reed's decision to cast real-life gangsters pays off superbly" --DVD Review"A fantastic film of sheer horror. Non-actors take the lead roles in this semi-improvised, ultra-realistic gangster drama set in Merseyside's criminal underworld. This scene is the nauseous aftermath of a shooting carried out by a motley crew of drugdealing doormen.

Director Dan Reed used non-actors including Bennett and other doormen to portray gangsters involved in violence and drug dealing. Shooters became a cult classic and was notable for having been completely unscripted apart from a brief outline. The actors are (or were at the time) all members of the Liverpool criminal class and that lends a chunk of authenticity to the production. If you come back before this court in breach, none of this is going to count, you will be at risk of going to prison. Nightclub bouncer Big John is eager to earn some quick money and becomes involved in the plans for a robbery.

Bennett admitted being concerned in the production of cannabis and possessing the Class B drug with intent to supply.Judge Brian Cummings, QC, accepted until these offences Bennett had not been in trouble since 2010 and there was a delay in the case coming to court. Shooters, first shown on TV in 2000, was a dark mix of fiction and reality, set around the murky Liverpool underworld. From the opening credits which has a haunting musical score with xylophone type music showing the camera panning across Merseyside you just knew it was going to be something more than it was billed to be. Fists, boots and bullets fly in the film but in one scene we learn that one of our characters bites the ear off a gang member "from the crew in Manny". Has to be one of the most realistic gangster crime movie's ever made portrayed by real life gangsters set in liverpool a film that will open your eyes about the underworld a must see you will not be disappointed belive me .

Set in Liverpool, this film by Dan Reed uses a cast of non-actors and semi-improvised scenes in an attempt to accurately portray the murky world of UK gangsters, with shockingly realistic results. He said Bennett lived on his own but mixed with other people who smoked cannabis and had become "a heavy user", who shared the drug with friends.
